Prerequisite coursework

Math Background: Three semesters of Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra.

Engineering Background: Preferred undergraduate background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or Applied Mathematics.

Application requirements

Applicants must have an undergraduate Bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution and must submit:

  • Three recommendation letters
  • TOEFL scores (International students only)

Curriculum

The Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering requires 30 credit hours of coursework. We offer three-credit-hour and one-credit-hour courses. You will create a plan of study (POS) that lists the courses you plan to take and their timing.

  • Yes, unless you have received a degree within the last 36 months from a school where English is the primary language of instruction in a country where English is the native language.
  • Yes, financial aid is available. All federal financial aid benefits and requirements apply to enrolled MSECE students.
  • This program does not include live seminars. All courses can be completed 100% online.
  • You can transfer up to 6 credits of graduate courses not previously used toward another degree toward the MSECE, provide that you earn a B or better in the courses and subject to approval by the Purdue University School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. If you have completed Purdue MicroMasters courses with a grade of B or better, you can apply these credits towards the Purdue MSECE; note that the limit of 6 credits mentioned above does not apply. If you are planning to apply to the Purdue MSECE program we encourage you to apply after completing one MicroMasters program to ensure you meet all plan-of-study requirements for the MSECE. While your performance in a Purdue MicroMasters program will be an important evaluation factor, admission is not guaranteed.
